One of Kansai's best hikes, the Yagyu Kaido follows the old samurai trail from the village of Yagyu in the pristine Nara countryside through the Kasugayama Primeval Forest into Nara. While long, the walk is relatively straightforward and offers a great variety of scenery.

From JR Nara Station or Kintetsu Nara station:
Take Nara Kotsu Bus Number 94/100/102 to Yagyu (柳生) bus stop. Enjo-ji Temple is close by. There are only a few buses daily, so double check with Nara Tourist Information Office or Nara Kotsu Bus. The most recent timetable can be seen [here]
