    Kyoto Trail - East Section

    Starting from the famous Fushima-Inari Taisha, this long but moderate hike takes you through the shrine and up the east portion of the Kyoto Trail, following the mountains north to Keage incline. The walk can be stopped here for a shorter hike (5-6 hours). Continue on the trail up Kyoto’s most famous mountain, Daimonji, finishing up at the beautiful Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion)

    Getting There: From Downtown Kyoto:
    Take the Keihan Main Line from Sanjo Station or Gion-Shijo Station to Fushimi-Inari Station. Head east out of the station and follow the signs (and crowds) to Fushima-Inari Taisha, about 450m away. [Google Maps]
    From Kyoto Station:
    Take the JR Nara Line to Inari Station (5 minutes, 2 stops). Fushima-Inari Taisha is right outside the station. [Google Maps]
